The 2008 FBT Leadership Retreat, held July 23-25 at the Omni Resort at ChampionsGate in Orlando, was a phenominal sucess! The first-ever FBT Golf Tournament was held on Wednesday, July 23rd, immediately prior to the Retreat.
Again held jointly with TEAM FL -- Florida's Turnpike and Expressway Association -- this year's Retreat was keynoted by Senator Daniel Webster, Florida Senate Majority Leader. In gratitude for his 28-year Florida Legislative career as a strong transportation advocate, Senator Webster was presented with FBT’s Transportation Champion award – his name, photo and bio on a genuine Wheaties box emblazoned with the title “Florida Transportation Champion.”
A moving special address by Dr. & Colonel Danny Jazarevic on the "Realization of the American Dream" was very well received, and featured sessions dealt with energy issues, freight and commuter rail, the media, national transportation issues and the 2008 Florida elections.
As always, the food, fellowship, and fun at our highly-regarded Dinner Reception was very well received. TV Reporter and session panelist, Troy Kinsey, brought smiles to everyone’s face with his remarkable impression of Florida Governor Charlie Crist.
