Florida is a dynamic place to live, work and play. However, our state’s bright future is threatened by traffic gridlock - and that’s why we’ve got to take steps in 2006 to “Keep Florida Moving!”
The Problem - There is an estimated $23 billion transportation funding shortfall - or “pothole” - facing Florida over the next 10 years … just to maintain current conditions! Fortunately, the 2005 Florida Legislature took action in the new Growth Management bill and provided an additional $1.1 billion for transportation in 2005-06, and an additional $542 million each year thereafter. Yet even with these new transportation dollars, the “pothole” ahead in the road to Florida’s future still remains!
How YOU Can Help - Use our VoterVOICE electronic grassroots system to contact your Florida Legislators and encourage them to use $1 billion of the additional $3.2 billion in new state revenue available this year to "Keep Florida Moving!" Just click on this link and send a quick, but very specific message to your Legislators asking them to use $1 Billion for Better Transportation!
Florida's Legislative leaders seem inclined to do exactly what we're asking - use $1 Billion for Better Transportation! Both Senate President Tom Lee and House Speaker Allan Bense have given very encouraging signs in this regard, so contact your Florida Legislators TODAY and give them a gentle "nudge" in the direction they seem to be already "leaning." It will only take a minute or two, but it is vital that YOUR Legislators hear from YOU on this issue NOW.
