Recently, some politicians have reacted to the increase in gasoline prices by calling for a suspension of Florida's vitally-important state gas tax. While we ALL want a reduction in gas prices, this ill-conceived idea would provide little if any real benefit to motorists while costing Florida's transportation system millions of much-needed dollars. As a recent St. Pete Times editorial bluntly states, suspending Florida's gas tax might be popular, but it wouldn't be prudent.
