January 30, 2006 - This year will mark the 50th anniversary of the Interstate Highway System. This 46,508-mile web of superhighways has transformed our nation and our economy. It is a symbol of American freedom and a tribute to human ingenuity. The Florida DOT has created a website to tell the Florida story of the Interstate Highway System. This story has three chapters - the history of the system, how it exists today, and a peek into the future.
